PAAVO JÄRVI & ESTONIAN FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA TO OPEN NEW YORK’S CARNEGIE HALL ARVO PÄRT 90TH BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE
On 23 October the Estonian Festival Orchestra makes its New York debut leading Carnegie Hall’s 90th birthday tribute to Arvo Pärt. Joining the orchestra and Paavo Järvi on stage are violinists Midori and Hans Christian Aavik, composer-pianist Nico Muhly, director Tõnu Kaljuste and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
The Carnegie Hall programme traces Pärt’s extraordinary musical evolution through iconic works including Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten, Perpetuum mobile, La Sindone, Adam’s Lament, Tabula Rasa, Frates, Swansong and Credo.
This Autumn Paavo Järvi and the Estonian Festival Orchestra also perform at the Vienna Konzerthaus (18.10), Zürich Tonhalle (19.10) and Hamburg Elbphilharmonie (20.10) in programmes dedicated to Arvo Pärt.
